Before TPF came along we taught English in the way we had learnt it - rote learning and texbook exercises. Most students found English difficult and boring. TPF brought in professional teacher trainers who gave us workshops on English teaching techniques and embedded 2 experts in the school for 6 weeks. Today, our English teachers have been transformed. They use a communicative approach utlising various madia . And the students' attitude has changed: they now enjoy their English lessons. An unexpected side benefit is that our English teachers now work as a team, helping solve each other's problems. This was not the case in the past, and we greatly appreciate TPF for being the catalyst for this change.

Our school used to have only 2 teachers to cover 6 levels (Prathom 1 to 6). TPF supplied an extra teacher with an English major that it had specially trained in communicative teaching skills. This alleviated our shortage and improved our English teaching. Our students now enjoy learning English very much. TPF also gave us computers enabling us to teach computer skills for the first time. TPF's support has greatly lifted the morale of our teachers and the community, which now participates much more in school activities. As a vote of confidence, many parents have now brought their children back from schools further away.

Our school has received much valuable assistance from TPF. First, our shcool has been able to open its first computer classes for students, teachers and the community. Second, few of our 26 teachers were able to use the child-centred approach required since 2002 before TPF's many workshops. Third, our English teaching has benefited greatly from the extra teacher with an English major supplied by TPF. I find it remarkable that a private organisation is so willing to help us civil servants in such a direct way. Developing our teachers is the most direct way to improve the quality of education.
